AUSTRALIA has announced it will provide tax refunds of up to $200 to all Australians over the age of 18, but there are some caveats.
The government says the refunds will be available to parents, grandparents and grandchildren.
But they will not be available for taxpayers who are aged between 18 and 65.
“The Government is pleased to announce that it will be providing tax refunds to those aged 18 to 65,” Prime Minister Kevin Rudd said in a statement.
“They will be refundable to their parents and grandparents, and not available for non-taxpayers.”
This means that many Australians who have paid their fair share of tax over the past four years will receive a refund of up, or at least some, of the amount they paid in GST.”AAP/ABC
